Over time words have created wars and ended wars. Our words are as powerful as a sword. Currently, in America, there are several protests because of words that have been said from the current president. Some humans choose to use their words for good while others choose to show their true nature behind them.
With all the negativity that has been going on in the world, I wanted to create a list of humans that chose to use their words for the greater good. Words that shine with moral, from values, and belief of the people that spoke them. Down below are 20 quotes from some of the people I admire and some quotes that I greatly respect.
#1 This one is actually from one of my favorite movies based on a true story. “Amazing Grace”
No one of our age has ever taken power.
Pitt the Younger:
Which is why we’re too young to realize certain things are impossible. Which is why we will do them anyway.
#2 “Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls. The most massive characters are seared with scars” – Philosopher Khalil Gibran
#3 “Others may question your credentials, your papers, your degrees. Others may look for all kinds of ways to diminish your worth. But what is inside you no one can take from you or tarnish. This is your worth, who you really are, your degree that can go with you wherever you go, that you bring with you the moment you come into a room, that can’t be manipulated or shaken. Without that sense of self, no amount of paper, no pedigree, and no credentials can make you legit. No matter what, you have to feel legit inside first.”
― Chris Gardner, The Pursuit of Happyness
#4 “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals”- J.K Rowling
#5 “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves” -Abraham Lincoln
#6 “Appear weak when you are strong, and strong when you are weak.”
― Sun Tzu, The Art of War
#7 “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people will not feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone and as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” -Marianne Williamson
#8 “Racism is not an excuse to not do the best you can.”-Arthur Ashe
#9 “There will always be men struggling to change, and there will always be those who are controlled by the past.”-Ernest J. Gaines
#10 “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”-Martin Luther King, Jr.
#11 “Progress is not inevitable. It’s up to us to create it.” – Michael Bloomberg
#12 “My father, a bookkeeper who never earned more than $11,000 a year in his life, sat there, writing out a $25 check to the NAACP. When I asked him why, he said discrimination against anyone is discrimination against us all. And I never forgot that. Indeed, his philanthropy was a gift, not just to that organization, but to me.” -Michael Bloomberg
#13 “If the people cannot trust their government to do the job for which it exists – to protect them and to promote their common welfare – all else is lost.” – Barack Obama
#14 “Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat” -Mother Teresa
#15 “We never know how high we are till we are called to rise. Then if we are true to form our statures touch the skies.” -Emily Dickinson
#16 “I am strong because I’ve been weak. I am fearless because I’ve been afraid. I am wise because I’ve been foolish. I am confident because I’ve been uncertain. I have learned and will continue to learn. Be proud. Just never be satisfied. No stop. No quit. EVER.” -Unknown

#18 “I don’t harp on the negative because if you do, then there’s no progression. There’s no forward movement. You got to always look on the bright side of things, and we are in control. Like, you have control over the choices you make.” -Taraji P. Henson
#19 “In a relationship when things are really great you don’t need to say anything and just enjoy the other person. Sometimes with a couple, it gets dark and you don’t know what to say and that silence can last all day.” -Anton Yelchin
#20 “It’s always helpful to learn from your mistakes because then your mistakes seem worthwhile.” -Garry Marshall
