“A story of greater purpose, everyone has one eventually, the key is allowing it to prosper, what is yours?”-B.Whitfield
Finding a greater purpose other than yourself.
Junior year of high school I became a parent and it was then the foundation was set to break the cycle and become the best damn good parent I could be. I stopped hanging around those involved with the streets and got back into school.
I took classes after school hours and classes during summer and winter break. I had to make up my credits for skipping almost my whole sophomore year. I graduated with my actual class of 2009 and then enrolled into College.
There is more to the story, however, getting that diploma was the proudest accomplishment I had during my teen years especially with the odds stacked against me. It didn’t matter that no one believed in me including teachers because all I had to do was look at my son and know he was all that mattered.
The mindset was fuck the rest and everyone else at that moment.
It’s surreal and awesome when a new purpose is found in life. The fucks fly away and you aim for the stars without a care. Now I own thisnd provide advice and tips to those who are in the shoes I once wore.
What it means to find a greater purpose than yourself.
You know that feeling we get when looking out at the ocean or walking down a quiet street with our headphones on tuned into our own world that we fantasize in our head.
How about when we look out the window of our local coffee shop into the distance. It is usually then that we acknowledge in those moments that there is something bigger than us out there.
Something greater that we can strive for, it feels that anything is possible beyond our own reach and dimensions.
Finding a greater purpose and how.
It means looking outwards beyond our own grasp, beyond our own understanding. What we thought we once knew, goes out the window. We throw away the limitations, and we seek something, a dream that we always had, the project that we gave up, the goal we set every new year but threw it to the side.
We go for it with everything we got, we say goodbye to the last fuck given and go for it without a care because we don’t dare to dream and not go through with it.
We become better versions of ourselves.
We don’t look back.
We apply lessons with no regret.
We take our grit and allow the process.
That is how we find our greater purpose.
5 principles to run with.
- Your greater purpose is not self-serving.
- You no longer care what others think.
- You have a passion within, a fire burning.
- You work on it relentlessly
- You embrace the growth that comes with the territory.
